On Tuesday, October 28, the ribbon was cut and Century 21 (C21) opened its 100,000-square-foot Philadelphia store at Eighth and Market Streets. The store, with its flagship location in lower Manhattan in New York City, is known for discount designer apparel and housewares. Moore is thrilled to announce that C21 will be a lead sponsor for the College’s highly anticipated Spring Fashion Show on May 16, 2015. "Their enthusiasm about the creative work of our students is inspirational and we are very excited to be working together as we welcome Century 21 to Philadelphia,” said Moore President Cecelia Fitzgibbon. Moore is also excited to report that the Fashion Show will move from its former location in the tent on Aviator Park across The Parkway to the beautiful Barnes Foundation, which houses one of the world’s pre-imminent Impressionistic collections.
At the ribbon cutting, guests were surrounded by merchandise, from designer handbags to shoes. Hundreds of eager shoppers lined up outside to enter the store following the event. Notable speakers included the Hon. Mayor Michael A. Nutter, City Council members, C21 family members and Betty Cohen, Vice President Corporate Relations & Governmental Affairs. “We’re very excited to work with such an outstanding and notable school of art and design school as Moore, with such a talented student body,” Cohen said following the opening.
“C21 is thrilled to be part of the Philadelphia community and excited to collaborate with Moore College of Art & Design,” said Larry M. Mentzer, Jr., Chief Revenue Officer for C21. “The values of Moore: excellence, professionalism, leadership, spirit and respect are closely aligned with those of Century 21: respect, communicate, teamwork, honesty, growth, positivity and amaze. Together, we can do great things.”
