Requirements

Entrance Requirements for Moore’s MFA in Interior Design Program

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 3.0 Minimum GPA
  • English proficiency
  • On-site interview
  • Portfolio
  • Statement of Intent
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • Resume

Portfolio Requirements

  • 10-15 pieces that show evidence of free hand drawing. In addition, the portfolio must contain a minimum of 3 pieces in other media that show an interest in the built environment, and at least 2 observational drawings of an interior space. Fall pre-program workshops are recommended as portfolio preparation for those with no art or design background. 
  • A 3-5 page writing sample demonstrating the ability to perform academic writing

Application

The application deadline for Summer 2012 is February 1, 2012.

Fall workshop: (Optional. Strongly recommended for students with bachelor’s degrees in any field)

The 5-week (30 hour) fall workshop is scheduled prior to the February application deadline. The workshop will encompass observational drawing with the use of varied media including some color. Drawing instruction will include studies in perspective drawing. The workshop will assist prospective candidates develop drawing skills and develop portfolio materials prior to application to the graduate program.
