The Interior Design major offers
-
The Interior Design department educates students to become creative, responsible interior designers. Studio experiences emphasize imaginative and critical thinking, and the curriculum includes a broad intellectual foundation and the development of professional skills needed to launch successful careers in interior design.
-
Moore's location near Philadelphia’s major design firms and resources further enriches students’ educational experience and access to internship opportunities.
-
Graduates of the program practice in a wide range of areas including commercial and residential interior design, furniture design, set design, facilities management, project management and product sales. Prior to graduation, some seniors have passed the exam required to become LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Accredited Professional).
-
Students may also consider advanced degrees in a design specialty, architecture or environmental theory.
|
-
Moore’s faculty, guest speakers and guest critics are active, practicing interior designers and related professionals. Tours, lectures and field studies of Philadelphia’s well-known historic interiors and contemporary architecture reinforce classroom instruction and studio projects.
-
Students learn and practice essential skills in the well-equipped CAD (Computer-Aided Design) lab. The hardware and software in the CAD lab is regularly updated to reflect current usage in interior design offices, including new releases of AutoCAD and other software required for superior professional presentations. Computers are also available in the junior and senior design studios.
-
The program also provides a foundation for continued study in exhibition design, sculptural installation, interactive design, critical writing about design and marketing for design.
-
Moore is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) program. Graduates are eligible to take the professional licensing examination and to be professional members of interior design organizations.
