I believe in the fusion of art and design pedagogy, which includes the principles and elements of art making, material exploration, the understanding of aesthetic form and function, and philosophic principles in context to history, technology and culture. It is imperative that my students are motivated and excited in my studio courses, so I always implement museum visits, video viewings, reading, writing, and references to contemporary artists and designers.
Whether I am teaching 2-D or 3-D Foundation design studio, a fashion computer digital textile studio, or a hands-on painting textile print design studio, I feel I can integrate all of my strengths and interests into each course.
Moore is unique because it stresses both fine arts and commercial design applications. I also love the healthy, positive competition that exists within a small all-women's college, where every student is committed to the highest caliber of work. It is a wonderful synthesis of real world job skills and unique creative outcomes. I have found that this college is a perfect fit for someone such as myself, who lives and breathes interdisciplinary teaching.
