ALUMNI NOTES 1970S

Cynthia Marsh '70 will retire from her role as Professor in the Department of Art and Design at Austin Peay State University at the end of the 2015-2016 academic year. A celebratory exhibition will be held to honor Cindy's award winning, socially conscious work with letters and forms, as well as her community engagement through the use of Goldsmith Press & Rare Type Collection.

Susannah Hart Thomer '70 was awarded Best in Show for her work, Order Up, in the JAM Gallery's second annual Juried Exhibition.

Donna Usher '72 presented a series of four art/film discussion sessions, at Downingtown Library, on the connection between social/political history and how the art reflects those historical issues.

Merle Weismer '74 was invited to create a Lettuceart centerpiece for Rick and Ruth Snyderman at the Snyderman Works gallery for the Philadelphia Museum of Art docent holiday party. In addition, Merle has been invited producers of Suzanne Roberts Talk Show to showcase her Lettuceart.

Mary Judge '75 had her work featured in a Design Sponge article, highlighting her paper and concrete artwork and the gallery she runs in Bushwick, Schema Projects.

Francine Bitting '76 was nominated as SugarWood Gallery's Artist of the Month.

Carleen Zimbalatti’s '78 work has been chosen to be a part of a survey  on Malevich's influences in contemporary culture.

Diane Prekup’s '79 fiber assemblage Opera Jacket , Ode to Autumn, tied for first place prize at the Textile Art Alliance / Cleveland Museum of Art Fashion Show held in October 2015. Over 100 garments were represented, the runway show and luncheon hosted over 650 attendees. Diane has been making fiber assemblage material and garments since 2005, and is represented in galleries and boutiques in Santa Fe, Cleveland, Memphis, Laguna Beach and Sarasota.
