Romy Burkus '87 - November - December 2011 Alumni Online Exhibition
As an artist, I hope that my art helps people heal and expand their souls.
As an educator, I view art as a tool for expanding one’s ability to solve problems. No matter the medium, it allows us to develop the skill of seeing things from other angles, enabling us to see other possibilities.
My art shifts every few years or so, but keeps the common thread of layers. As it shifts, the problems that need to be solved change, and the layers re-weave themselves into different forms. I like to think that this process allows me to be a conduit for others to experience new possibilities as well.
