Community Service - Village Arts and Humanities
2011
Moore alumnae joined with The Village of Arts and Humanities to provide children's programming during their 25th Anniversary Celebration on June 4 and for their day camp in July. It was a chance for us to broaden the creative experience for the children participating in the events. The Village of Arts and Humanities was founded by Lily Yeh, who will receive an honorary degree from Moore at Commencement on May 15.

Community Service – Adopt a Pig
2010

“Change matters…for kids with cancer” is the slogan embraced by Adopt a Pig, an organization committed to helping pediatric cancer patients and their families. In a partnership with Adopt a Pig, 90 Moore alumnae created more than 125 unique piggy banks. Banks were exhibited at an alumna’s gallery with a special reception. Banks sold benefited Adopt a Pig’s art therapy program at hospitals and with other organizations in the region.

Community Service – After-School Program
2008- 09 School Year

Moore's alumnae volunteers led an after-school art program at Bache-Martin School in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia. Using a program developed with students from Moore's art education program, Moore volunteers spent one afternoon each week at the school exploring a variety of media and techniques, focusing on the themes of “self” and “community.” Student work was exhibited at Moore from December 15, 2008 through January 16, 2009, with a reception for children and their parents on January 13, 2009.

Community Service – Frankie's World
2008

Twenty-three Moore artists devoted a weekend to painting the exterior of a daycare center for children with special medical needs. A Moore alumna designed the mural, recruiting her Moore friends to draw the mural in preparation for others to paint. Another Moore muralist provided technical expertise. The mural was dedicated at a public event.

Community Service – Interim House Murals
2007

Working with residents of Interim House, a Germantown home that provides residential and outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation for women, Moore alumnae and students painted murals and community room walls. A Moore interior design alumna selected the colors.

Community Service – Lids for Kids
2004, 2005 and 2006

Hundreds of Moore alumnae created hundreds of hats for children at local hospitals. Alumnae then delivered the hats to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia; Alfred I. du Pont Hospital for Children, Wilmington; St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and Temple Children's Hospital, both in Philadelphia. Moore volunteers also led workshops in the hospitals for patients and families so that children could decorate their own hats. More than 50 alumnae worked with the children, and an additional 25 alumnae created patterns and hats for children to embellish. One alumna created invitations to participate, and another alumna created tags for every hat.

Community Service – Philadelphia Cares Day
2000, 2001 and 2002

For three years, Moore alumnae joined with Philadelphia Cares and painted murals at Philadelphia schools:
2000 – Garden wall at Simon Gratz High School
2001 – Wall opposite cafeteria entrance at Meredith Elementary School
2002 – Archway leading to the cafeteria at Furness High School
Moore alumnae designed the murals and organized the painting effort.
