Fashion Show 2013
Blasting Off, the theme of Moore College of Art & Design’s Fashion Show on Saturday night, paid homage to The Space Age metallic feel of the 1960s, as dozens of designer creations rocketed down the runway. The 90 minute show under a billowing tent in Aviator Park kicked off with junior class swimwear with the theme, “Space Odyssey,” featuring white bathing suits with reflective trim. Next, the show featured childrenswear by sophomore designers, with concepts based on a vintage circus theme. Senior collections by 21 students were showcased, with original digital prints incorporated into several collections, such as Kaitlyn Moore’s sportswear inspired by Eastern State Penitentiary and Jasmine Bagley’s children’s group. Rachel Lopez-Cerrato’s eveningwear was a big winner Saturday night, winning Best in Show and the Adrienne Vittadini ‘66 and Critic’s Awards; she also won prizes for her sportswear and portfolio. Amanda Davis took home the prize for Most Saleable with her urban prep-nineties inspired collection. Junior class menswear was inspired by different breeds of dogs and their owners. The final segment of the show was senior class eveningwear that began with a countdown to blasting off, the theme of the night.
