Curatorial Studies

I wanted to find an internship that combined business and photography and narrowed it down to institutions that had a smaller setting and staff. The Print Center was founded in 1915 and exhibits contemporary printmaking and photography. The Print Center generally hosts 10 interns a year and at least one from Moore.

During my internship I learned how to use their database, mailing list software, donor history, and press lists. I also helped out at special events for summer and gallery openings and with their auction.  I think my internship solidified my idea of wanting to work in a smaller institution and it also made me realize how much I love Philadelphia. Seeing the contemporary art scene in Philadelphia set the stage for my senior thesis and showed me what’s out there outside of the Moore bubble.

I also received the Happy Fernandez Leadership Fellowship – at the same time. When not working, I was focusing on my fellowship. I was interviewing curators in different cities around the country. I will present my fellowship this fall at Moore.
