Art Education

Moore is such a tight-knit community and it really helped me grow as an artist and individual. I decided to come to Moore my senior year of high school. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and I loved art so I thought why not do both.  Moore has offered me an education that I could not get anywhere else.  The teachers here really care about putting the student first and want to help you as much as possible.

Moore has offered me so many experiences that I did not believe I would ever have the chance to do.  I studied abroad this past summer in the Rome program and I was amazed at the time I had. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  Another experience was becoming a Resident Assistant.  It led me to some of the best relationships and has helped me grow as an individual.  I believe because we are such a small school we have better relationships with the other women who attend this college.  I like the fact that I can walk down the hall and feel as though I fit in and can talk to or ask questions of my peers.
I believe the impact of going to an all women’s college is that we understand each other more. In class there is always someone you can relate to as well as a peer you can grow from. The Art Education program at Moore is difficult, but totally worth it.  I feel that it is really shaping the students for a bright future.  I know at the end of four years I will be ready to go into a new classroom and be a great teacher.
The Art Methods and Curriculum class with Deb Deery has really helped me grow into the teacher I want to be.  Photo 1 and Projects in Clay really helped me discover what kind of art I want to make.
