Following the May 20, 2011 announcement of President Fernandez’ intent to resign in May 2012 after Commencement, the Board acted to constitute a Search Committee naming long-time board member Richard Hevner as chair. On June 16, the Board announced the names of those serving on the 11-member Search Committee including six current and former Board members, two members of the faculty and one representative of each of the College’s administrative staff, alumnae and student body. In August, the Board selected the executive search firm Isaacson, Miller to assist with the recruitment.

The Search Committee developed a position profile and began actively soliciting nominations, applications and inquiries for the President position. All inquiries were held in confidence and  made through the search firm by   and   at Isaacson Miller. 

The Committee met throughout the fall and winter months to review candidate applications and conduct candidate interviews.  On February 23, the Board named Cecelia Fitzgibbon the eighth president of Moore College of Art & Design.

Dr. Fernandez will preside over Moore’s Commencement May 13 and will officially resign at the end of June 2012.  Fitzgibbon will assume the role of president in July 2012.
