For Immediate Release
August 22, 2012

(Philadelphia, PA) Moore officially welcomed the undergraduate Class of 2016 at Convocation 2012 on August 23 in the Great Hall.

This year’s 153 entering students hail from across the US and around the globe; 108 are first year students and 45 are transfer and re-entry students.

They represent 21 different states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

A number of students are coming from even farther away. Joining Moore’s community also are international students coming from as far away as Ecuador, India and Israel.

This is the first class to participate in Moore's new innovative iPad® initiative. Each new student has been given a free Apple® iPad®, pre-populated with apps to support their art and design education. Students were trained on the devices during a multi-day student orientation, during which they also went off-campus to explore the sights of the city, toured museums, took part in a scavenger hunt and participated in community service.

A college-wide picnic followed Convocation welcoming new and returning undergraduates and faculty for the 2012-2013 academic year.
