For Immediate Release
August 25, 2010
(Philadelphia, PA) The Galleries at Moore will hold a Gallery Opening and Artists Talk on Thursday, September 9 from 6 to 8 pm. Photographer and educator Wendy Ewald will present a talk on her work at 6:30 pm. Ewald will talk about Secret Lives: Collaborative Works with Children 1969-1999. A MacArthur "genius" award-winning artist, Ewald is an early pioneer investigating the collaboration as part of her artistic practice.
Ewald, a Moore 2010 Visionary Woman Awardee, is also one of the founders of a process called Literacy Through Photography. This process encourages children to explore their world as they photograph scenes from their own lives, and then to use their images as a catalyst for verbal and written expression.
This fall, The Galleries at Moore launch a new outreach initiative that will bring Literacy Through Photography to Philadelphia for the first time. The initiative involves a number of components including workshops, exhibitions and events.
The Galleries at Moore at Moore College of Art & Design are located at 20th Street and The Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19103. For information call 215.965.4027.
