Philadelphia Inquirer Editor Cathy Rubin to Speak at Convocation

(Philadelphia, PA) Philadelphia Inquirer editor Cathy Rubin will speak at Moore's Convocation on Thursday, August 27. The ceremony will start at 11 a.m. at Moore, with a picnic to follow from 12 – 1:30 p.m. on Race Street in front of the College. Rubin has been a journalist for 16 years, working as a reporter, editor, designer and illustrator at publications including The Jerusalem Post, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and now The Philadelphia Inquirer, where she is editor of the Style & Soul section, as well as “I” magazine.

As the editor in charge of presentation at the Central Penn Business Journal, Rubin led a redesign that received state and national recognition, and later helped launch a lifestyle magazine in Pittsburgh, where she served as art director. She earned her master's degree from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism and also taught writing for several years at the college level. She runs a small business selling her paintings online and at arts festivals throughout the year. After living in Jerusalem; Burlington, Vermont; Chicago; Washington, D.C.; and all over Pennsylvania, she returned to her hometown of Philadelphia two years ago, where she now lives in Elkins Park.
