For Immediate Release
March 1, 2012
(Philadelphia, PA) – As part of the new Foundation curriculum at Moore College of Art & Design, all new BFA students entering the College in the fall of 2012 will receive a free Apple® iPad® for use as a sketchbook and portfolio, as well as a camera for both still and moving images. Pre-populated apps selected to support the visual art and design education at Moore will come loaded and ready for students to use in their classes. Apps on the iPad will allow students to develop ideas, concepts and produce finished work in the design, drawing and color classes.
While the primary purpose of this initiative is to support new students who will be taking the new Foundation curriculum, the College will also make these customized apps and other content available to all returning students who already have an iPad device.
The roll-out of Moore’s latest technology initiative will begin Thursday, March 1, when thirty full-time and adjunct faculty members will receive the new Moore iPad. Representatives from Apple will be on site at the College to provide orientation workshops to acclimate faculty to the iPad devices. Over the next two months, faculty will be selecting apps which will best support the new Foundation curriculum.
Next fall, all returning students who have an iPad and want to upgrade their mobile device will also be given the opportunity to get the customized package of Apps for their iPad. For more information visit www.moore.edu/ipadinitiative.
