***Spoiler Alert*** Tonight’s Challenge was Printastic and luckily for Dom Streater, she makes many of her own fabrics and is an expert at print design. Rob Le Bras-Brown, the Senior VP of HP Worldwide Marketing, accompanied Tim into the workroom at the top of the episode because the challenge was sponsored by HP INTEL.
The designers were paired up with a group of next-generation thinkers and innovators who served as their muses. Each of the designers splintered off to meet their muses. Dom Streater was paired with Premal Shah, co-founder of crowd-funded lending network kiva.org
The designers had a $100 suggested shopping budget at the Mood fabric store. Their print designs were sent off to be printed overnight and delivered to the designers in the morning.
Dom took her inspiration from the Internet's role in connecting people. She made a high-necked, long-sleeve sheath dress out of a white, black, and hot pink print comprised of dashed lines. "Runway ready," Zac Posen said, complimenting the butterfly-like patterns on the arms. Nina Garcia liked that it was sort of tribal and very modern; Heidi Klum said Dom's design was "dynamic" and "fashion-forward." Peter Som said the garment was sophisticated and “blessedly un-costumey.” Congratulations to Dom for winning the Printastic challenge!
Sometimes Heidi does a "One...OR MORE...people will be going home" fake-out, but unfortunately for Kate and Alexander, this week's threat was 100% true.
Next week’s episode will decide which designers get to go to New York Fashion Week.
