Holly Zausner: Unsettled Matter

September 17 – December 10, 2016
Suspended between reality and dreamscape, Holly Zausner’s short film Unsettled Matter is a meditation and commentary on contemporary alienation. Set in iconic locations in an ominously deserted New York City, the film features Zausner in the guise of an enigmatic, archetypal female film noir character who walks through the city’s empty streets and eerily uninhabited buildings. Unsettled Matter evokes an uncanny feeling of the unknown, as it is unclear whether the world in the film is real, or a projection of the character’s internal life.
