POSITION: Moore College of Art & Design is seeking to hire a full-time faculty Chair of Liberal Arts. The 3-year full-time appointment starts in August 2015. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and subject to the collective bargaining agreement with Moore Federation of Teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be an innovative teacher/scholar with a Ph.D. or equivalent experience and professional standing in Art History, Visual/Cultural Anthropology, History or a Humanities/Literature field. Regardless of specialization, candidates must have a strong commitment to a Liberal Arts pedagogy and coherent vision for contemporary modes of multicultural discourse and emergent academic disciplines relevant in an art and design education. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years college-level teaching experience, preferably with at least three years full-time, teaching at all levels. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience teaching in college or university environments that have included art and design students and will have experience in developing innovative curriculum. The Chair promotes excellence in teaching, creativity, research and engagement through mentoring, peer reviews and program assessment. Candidates must have a demonstrated active record of professional achievement; promising record of scholarly research; and the potential for critical recognition in an area of scholarly pursuit. Outstanding written and communication skills are a must. Building on the department’s strong history, the Chair will guide innovative curriculum development. Preference will be given to candidates who indicate a developed understanding of teaching strategies that incorporate digital technologies including online teaching, interdisciplinary and emerging learning-based pedagogies. The successful candidate will have evidence of strong leadership and must have demonstrable administrative experience as an academic leader.

DUTIES: Chair responsibilities include oversight of the Art History, Curatorial Studies and Art Education majors, a Creative Writing minor and a Business minor. The full-time faculty Chair teaching load is 6 credits each semester in addition to 3 credits of release time for the departmental administration of Chair duties, office hours and participation in college and administrative work. Chair responsibilities in the summer are necessary to handle traditional duties. Ongoing professional scholarship and participation in college and committee service is required. Chairs are expected to work collaboratively with colleagues, staff and administration and to work strategically across the College to support recruitment, retention, outreach and mission. Chairs are expected to actively participate in BFA Enrollment meetings and to collaborate with Admissions on strategies for stimulating enrollment including but not limited to developing targeted events highlighting departmental strengths and working with Marketing and Communications to provide related content for web, announcements and publications.

Continuing Education FACULTY POSITIONS

The Continuing Education Department’s Adult Programs focuses on seven professional certificate programs offered in four 10-week sessions with various teaching opportunities that arise throughout the year.  On campus courses meet one evening a week and a number of courses are offered online. Interior Design Studies
The Interior Design Studies Certificate Program requires faculty with general interior design expertise and/or specialized interior design skills in color, lighting, mechanical drafting, and CAD for Drafting.

Fashion Studies
The Fashion Studies: Technical Design Certificate and the Fashion Studies: Apparel Construction Certificate require faculty who have experience with the contemporary fashion environment and/or specialized skills in one of the following areas: sewing, garment construction, flat patternmaking, fashion textiles, Photoshop and Illustrator for fashion, and Lectra.

Fashion Merchandising+Production (Online)
The Fashion Merchandising+Production Certificate Program requires faculty with a background in the contemporary fashion environment, as well as specialized skills in one of the following areas: apparel design principles, fashion textiles, fashion trend and color forecasting, fashion retailing, product development, merchandising planning and control and international retailing.  The College will provide training in teaching an online course.

Motion Graphics (Hybrid/Online)
The Motion Graphics Certificate Program requires faculty with skills in one of the following areas:  color systems and 2D design (online), digital imaging with Photoshop, digital typography (online), digital production standards (online), After Effects, storyboarding for film and animation (online), and 3D motion design.  As noted, some courses will be offered online and the College will provide training in teaching an online course.

Web Design and Digital Media for Print+Web
The Web Design Certificate and the Digital Media for Print+Web Certificate require faculty with skills in general digital design using Abobe Creative Suite basics and/or specialized skills in one of the following: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, WordPress, HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, design for mobile devices, and color pre-press production.

Job Title:                             Studio Technician
Reports to:                           Fine Arts BFA Department Chair
Exemption Status:              Non-Exempt, FT12 months; 40 hours per week, 9am – 5pm or equivalent adjusted schedule to cover evening classes if necessary

Purpose:  Maintains and manages classroom labs and facilities in printmaking, photography, digital video and digital fabrication in direct support of the BFA Fine Arts department; and oversees the dedicated studio spaces assigned to Fine Arts and Photography & Digital Art in terms of safety usage and signage. Provide direct support to graduate students and faculty throughout the year and specifically during the summer intensives.


General Responsibilities include day-to-day running of the print shop, photography darkrooms, digital video lab and FabLab (digital fabrication lab), hiring, scheduling, training and supervising student workers, and assisting Chair with preparing annual budget.  Other general duties include working with other staff to make sure the walk-in spray booth is run smoothly and safely, keeping facilities in good working order and clean, maintaining equipment, coordinating repairs, maintaining signage and bulletin boards, receiving materials from outside suppliers and completing chemical/material inventories as needed.

Safety Responsibilities include providing safety training and studio orientation for new faculty, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, conducting regular safety inspections of equipment and facilities, reporting infractions per College policies, educating students on safety policies, enforcing safe working practices, and serving on Health & Safety Committee.

Studio and Classroom Responsibilities include working with the Chair to organize and manage the studio space, coordinating and overseeing studio contracts and spring clean-out, posting signs listing student name and location of their studio space in each studio, and managing the end of the term clean up and preparation for the next semester/term.

Printmaking Responsibilities include coordinating the re-sale of materials to students, maintaining acid baths and maintaining safe hazardous waste collection and disposal systems.

Photography Responsibilities include checking out equipment, maintaining a rotating display of current PDA work, keeping the shooting studio and contents orderly and mixing chemicals so there is a continuous supply on hand.

Digital Video Responsibilities include assisting the Director of Academic Computing and/or Fine Arts Chair with specially assigned projects as needed.

Graduate Program Support Responsibilities include directly supporting all Graduate Program Managers, students and faculty in the use of equipment and facilities, ensuring that printmaking and photography are up and running before and during the summer and adjust work schedule as needed to support training for graduate faculty and/or students.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair or Academic Dean.

Qualifications/Requirements: The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in printmaking, photography and media arts, including previous responsibility for photography or printmaking studio and some digital fabrication equipment; knowledge of printmaking and/or photo processes, digital video and digital fabrication software and equipment; ability to work with students, faculty, staff and vendors; working knowledge of art safety and health hazards in the arts, ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively; excellent communication skills and strong organizational and supervisory skills; commitment to providing a service-oriented working environment; working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet and email, Adobe Creative Suite and video editing.

Job Title: Admissions Counselor
Reports to: Executive Director of Admissions

Purpose: The primary focus of this position is to recruit and enroll qualified students into the BFA program and counsel prospective students throughout the admissions process. 


  • B.F.A. or B.A. in art or related field is required.
  • Previous experience in sales/marketing.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), and social media knowledge.
  • Ability to work/travel independently and set priorities to achieve goals/objectives required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; confidence speaking in small/large groups and with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Recruiting students: first-year, returning, and transfer populations.
    • Portfolio reviews, interviews, counseling, maintaining phone contact & correspondence with students, and generally working applicant files using prospect management recruiting procedures.
    • Accepting / rejecting & awarding students, completing transfer evaluations for transfer students.
    • Cultivate, and maintain close relationships with high school art teachers and Community College art and design faculty.
    • Travels to identified college fairs, National Portfolio Days, Schools and 2-year colleges to give presentations, review students’ portfolios and build relationships with art teachers, guidance counselors, transfer center staff and college faculty.
    • Weekend and/or weekday overnight travel with extended stays to visit schools including National Portfolio Days and College Fairs.
  • College Fair Planning works closely with the Executive Director & other Admissions Counselors to coordinate and attend college fairs and portfolio review events.
  • High School and Community College Visits to schools between September and March. The purpose of the visit is to present information about Moore to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students and transfers, collect inquiries and for educate underrepresented high school students about the college admissions process. Some schools may require portfolio reviews on site.
  • Special Events: Must also be present for all on campus events and youth programs events.

Graduate Research Assistant - Part Time 14 hours/week

  • Participate in all aspects of automated circulation.

  • Supervise work-study students.
  • Assist with acquisitions and collection development.
  • Provide library instruction as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with library staff and other professionals, participating in the revision and creation of policies, procedures, and special projects, including the blending of traditional library activities with digital initiatives.


The ideal candidate will have a MLS from an ALA – accredited school, some library experience and experience with Innovative Integrated Library Systems.  Experience with both PC and Mac operating systems. Reports to:  Interim Academic Dean

Purpose: Provide support to Educational Support Services, the Registrar and The Writer’s Studio.  Collect, collate, report and file institutional data in response to requests from external agencies and in response to internal administrative and academic program needs. Coordinate outcome assessment plans within the academic areas and assist in the execution of assessment within academic departments. 


  • A Bachelor’s degree required, masters degree preferred in education. Degree should reflect experience in research methods and data analysis.
  • Minimum three years of experience in higher education with direct responsibility for managerial reports including the design/preparation/analysis of academic-related statistical surveys.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies

  • Complete and file all major surveys from outside agencies, including IPEDS, HEADS, AICAD, Middle States Annual Profile, AICUP, all PA Department of Education Surveys, Princeton Review, Peterson’s and College Board.
  • Provide institutional reports and studies as necessary and required in response to needs of the academic programs and management initiatives including the collection and processing of data and reporting of results
  • Update, maintain and distribute annual institutional that includes comparative tuition costs, enrollment reports, student demographics, student profile information, student performance information, attrition reports, faculty distribution and profile and other information as requested
  • Oversee course/faculty evaluations for all BFA and graduate courses.  Develop department distribution method and department specific questions.  Process and distribute results to department chairs, Academic Dean and individual faculty. 
  • Assist in implementing appropriate outcomes assessment procedures with Chairs for each department and Graduate Program Managers, and process the data.
  • Assist in developing coordinated institutional research systems within other areas of the college and provide summary reports and data to appropriate offices, staff and faculty as well as to committees as requested.
  • Assist in writing the Middle States Periodic Review report.
  • Serve as a clearinghouse for institutional assessment data and reports on college assessment activities as requested/appropriate.
  • Support educational support services and staff, including academic advising, tutoring and Registrar Office, and The Writer’s Studio.
  • Distribute and process annual Student Survey (for example, NSSE or Survey Monkey)
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the Interim Academic Dean.

Purpose:   Moore College is seeking a dynamic addition to its development team who will support special events, individual donor strategies, foundation and corporate fundraising and overall efforts of the Development Office. This highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual will acquire in depth experience of the variety of arts and higher education advancement through the detailed management of the development database system, gift processing and other critical development operations.

  • Supports the operations of a quick paced and ambitious development office with an eye toward improving processes, implementing systems to optimize advancement programs and motivation to execute initiatives that support the school’s mission and values.
  • Supports fundraising efforts including communications with major donors, corporate and foundation contacts and potential major donors, coordinating multiple stewardship events, copying and maintaining fundraising materials, and provides assistance with other special projects.
  • Works with Associate Director of Development to develop plan to steward donors and increase giving.
  • Assists with grant management, grant writing and reporting.
  • Facilitates the moves management and building of donor pipelines, preparing reports and making recommendations for prospect strategies for current and new donor prospects.
  • Under the oversight of the Associate Director of Development, coordinates the planning and implementation of our major annual gala, the Visionary Woman Awards, as well as smaller events, including committee meetings and member and donor receptions.
  • Collaborates with Communications staff on publicity; works with vendors on site logistics; develops and reconciles event timelines and budgets when needed.
  • Maintains fundraising records including data entry, processing donations, gift tracking and generating thank you notes through the Raiser’s Edge database
  • Reach out to offices across the college such as the Business Office, Admissions and Student Services to ensure development operations have necessary resources as well as to partner across teams toward improving processes.
  • Prepare mailing lists, giving reports and prospect strategy documents.
  • Manage donor filing system, maintaining accurate, neat, orderly and up-to-date files. Convert paper files to electronic files and enter data to increase the utility of database and other systems
  • Provides operational support, including placing office supply orders, equipment troubleshooting, and serving as point person for building management.
