POSITION: Moore College of Art & Design is seeking to hire a full-time faculty Chair of Liberal Arts. The 3-year full-time appointment starts in August 2015. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and subject to the collective bargaining agreement with Moore Federation of Teachers.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be an innovative teacher/scholar with a Ph.D. or equivalent experience and professional standing in Art History, Visual/Cultural Anthropology, History or a Humanities/Literature field. Regardless of specialization, candidates must have a strong commitment to a Liberal Arts pedagogy and coherent vision for contemporary modes of multicultural discourse and emergent academic disciplines relevant in an art and design education. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years college-level teaching experience, preferably with at least three years full-time, teaching at all levels. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience teaching in college or university environments that have included art and design students and will have experience in developing innovative curriculum. The Chair promotes excellence in teaching, creativity, research and engagement through mentoring, peer reviews and program assessment. Candidates must have a demonstrated active record of professional achievement; promising record of scholarly research; and the potential for critical recognition in an area of scholarly pursuit. Outstanding written and communication skills are a must. Building on the department’s strong history, the Chair will guide innovative curriculum development. Preference will be given to candidates who indicate a developed understanding of teaching strategies that incorporate digital technologies including online teaching, interdisciplinary and emerging learning-based pedagogies. The successful candidate will have evidence of strong leadership and must have demonstrable administrative experience as an academic leader.
 
 
DUTIES: Chair responsibilities include oversight of the Art History, Curatorial Studies and Art Education majors, a Creative Writing minor and a Business minor. The full-time faculty Chair teaching load is 6 credits each semester in addition to 3 credits of release time for the departmental administration of Chair duties, office hours and participation in college and administrative work. Chair responsibilities in the summer are necessary to handle traditional duties. Ongoing professional scholarship and participation in college and committee service is required. Chairs are expected to work collaboratively with colleagues, staff and administration and to work strategically across the College to support recruitment, retention, outreach and mission. Chairs are expected to actively participate in BFA Enrollment meetings and to collaborate with Admissions on strategies for stimulating enrollment including but not limited to developing targeted events highlighting departmental strengths and working with Marketing and Communications to provide related content for web, announcements and publications.
 
 
COLLEGE & COMMUNITY: Moore College of Art & Design celebrates more than 165 years of educating women for careers in the visual arts as the nation’s first and only women’s visual arts college. BFA Post-Baccalaureate Art Education Adjunct Faculty Position:

Moore College of Art & Design has opportunities for an adjunct faculty member to teach in the BFA and Post-Baccalaureate Art Education degree program in the upcoming Autumn 2015 semester.  A Master’s degree in art education or special education is required; a minimum of three years professional teaching experience with PreK-12 students with disabilities is preferred; state teacher certification in PreK-12 visual arts is required; knowledge of both National / PA state standards in visual arts and IDEA regulations is required; evidence of professional activity and scholarship is required; and some college level teaching experience is preferred.

ED327 Special Populations in Art Education

This course is one on one teaching experience for Moore students to work with special needs students under the supervision of a certified teacher. For 10 weeks, the class time will be split between teaching art to the children and learning teaching methods and accommodations especially for special needs students. In addition, Moore students will learn how to identify various exceptionalities, gain knowledge in applying strategies to accommodate special needs students in their self-contained classroom and as they are mainstreamed. State and Federal laws will be explored.

Continuing Education FACULTY POSITIONS

CONTINUING EDUCATION ADULT PROGRAMS
The Continuing Education Department’s Adult Programs focuses on seven professional certificate programs offered in four 10-week sessions with various teaching opportunities that arise throughout the year.  On campus courses meet one evening a week and a number of courses are offered online. A bachelor's or master’s degree or equivalent professional background in relevant areas is required. Interior Design Studies
The Interior Design Studies Certificate Program requires faculty with general interior design expertise and/or specialized interior design skills in color, lighting, mechanical drafting, and CAD for Drafting.

Fashion Studies
The Fashion Studies: Technical Design Certificate and the Fashion Studies: Apparel Construction Certificate require faculty who have experience with the contemporary fashion environment and/or specialized skills in one of the following areas: sewing, garment construction, flat patternmaking, fashion textiles, Photoshop and Illustrator for fashion, and Lectra.

Fashion Merchandising+Production (Online)
The Fashion Merchandising+Production Certificate Program requires faculty with a background in the contemporary fashion environment, as well as specialized skills in one of the following areas: apparel design principles, fashion textiles, fashion trend and color forecasting, fashion retailing, product development, merchandising planning and control and international retailing.  The College will provide training in teaching an online course.

Motion Graphics (Hybrid/Online)
The Motion Graphics Certificate Program requires faculty with skills in one of the following areas:  color systems and 2D design (online), digital imaging with Photoshop, digital typography (online), digital production standards (online), After Effects, storyboarding for film and animation (online), and 3D motion design.  As noted, some courses will be offered online and the College will provide training in teaching an online course.

Web Design and Digital Media for Print+Web
The Web Design Certificate and the Digital Media for Print+Web Certificate require faculty with skills in general digital design using Abobe Creative Suite basics and/or specialized skills in one of the following: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, WordPress, HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, design for mobile devices, and color pre-press production.

YOUTH PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS

POSITION: The Continuing Education Department at Moore College of Art & Design has opportunities for part-time instructors with undergraduate degrees, teaching certification and/or equivalent professional experience to teach courses in the following areas: fine arts (two dimensional and three dimensional), photography, fashion, jewelry design, animation and illustration.  Fall and spring courses take place on Saturdays during a 10-week semester.  Summer classes take place during a five-week, week day semester.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all aspects of automated circulation.     
  • Resolve patron account issues
  • Supervise work-study students.
  • Assist with acquisitions and collection development.
  • Provide library instruction as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with library staff and other professionals, participating in the revision and creation of policies, procedures, and special projects, including the blending of traditional library activities with digital initiatives.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a MLS from an ALA – accredited school, some library experience and experience with Innovative Integrated Library Systems.  Experience with both PC and Mac operating systems. Must have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as strong planning and project management skills.

DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

Status: Exempt
Reports to:  Director of Development

Purpose: Moore College is seeking a dynamic addition to its development team who will support special events, individual donor strategies, foundation and corporate fundraising and overall efforts of the Development Office. This highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual will acquire in depth experience of the variety of arts and higher education advancement through the detailed management of the development database system, gift processing and other critical development operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong database management and computer skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to work within deadlines with a demonstrated capacity for project management, collaborating across teams and clear judgement amidst shifting priorities

Responsibilities:  

  • Supports the operations of a quick paced and ambitious development office with an eye toward improving processes, implementing systems to optimize advancement programs and motivation to execute initiatives that support the school’s mission and values.
  • Supports fundraising efforts including communications with major donors, corporate and foundation contacts and potential major donors, coordinating multiple stewardship events, copying and maintaining fundraising materials, and provides assistance with other special projects.
  • Works with Associate Director of Development to develop plan to steward donors and increase giving.
  • Assists with grant management, grant writing and reporting.
  • Facilitates the moves management and building of donor pipelines, preparing reports and making recommendations for prospect strategies for current and new donor prospects.
  • Under the oversight of the Associate Director of Development, coordinates the planning and implementation of our major annual gala, the Visionary Woman Awards, as well as smaller events, including committee meetings and member and donor receptions.
  • Collaborates with Communications staff on publicity; works with vendors on site logistics; develops and reconciles event timelines and budgets when needed.
  • Maintains fundraising records including data entry, processing donations, gift tracking and generating thank you notes through the Raiser’s Edge database
  • Reach out to offices across the college such as the Business Office, Admissions and Student Services to ensure development operations have necessary resources as well as to partner across teams toward improving processes.
  • Prepare mailing lists, giving reports and prospect strategy documents.
  • Manage donor filing system, maintaining accurate, neat, orderly and up-to-date files. Convert paper files to electronic files and enter data to increase the utility of database and other systems
  • Provides operational support, including placing office supply orders, equipment troubleshooting, and serving as point person for building management.

FINE ART 3D TECHNICIAN

Status: Non-Exempt, FT 12-months; 40 hours per week, 9am – 5pm or equivalent
Reports to: Fine Art Chairperson, Studio Art Graduate Program Director

Purpose:           

Maintains the Small Metals, Welding and Ceramic classrooms, facilities and equipment and additionally the woodshop in the summer. Responsible for ordering and inventory, Health & Safety signage and equipment repair. Organizes and monitors for safety the junior and senior Fine Art studio workspaces.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic shop skills and safety awareness
  • Knowledge of welding, small metals, ceramics, sculpture processes and materials
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of people, to prioritize tasks, work effectively, to function as part of a team and work independently as needed
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and the internet

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides basic maintenance of Fine Art 3D departmental facilities, equipment and tools in Ceramics, Small Metals and Welding labs and in all other 3D classrooms and work-spaces.
  • Manages the classroom and studio maintenance for Fine Art 3D areas including ordering supplies as requested by the Chair and/or departmental faculty, managing inventory and posting appropriate signage.
  • Maintains condition and inventory of departmental tools and supplies, responsible for light maintenance and repairs of small tools and equipment, places work-orders for larger repairs and tracks progress of repairs, including keeping the Chair and faculty informed regarding the repair/replacement status.
  • Monitors and tracks student use for small equipment through a check-out system.
  • Receives departmental materials from outside suppliers, checking delivery information including filing of new MSD sheets with the Director of Facilities.
  • Responsible for meeting large deliveries at the loading dock and for unloading, moving and storing shipments of clay and steel. 
  • Change gas tanks in welding, monitoring inventory and properly storing full and spent tanks.
  • Prepares all Fine Art 3D classrooms, labs and studios prior to fall classes starting, prior to the Spring semester starting and prior to the Summer and YAW classes starting.
  • Organizes and manages all Fine Art, 3D and 2D, junior and senior studio spaces, including set up of spaces in August, posting safety and studio use signage, regular monitoring of safety compliance and oversees end of the year studio clean-out.
  • Supervises student monitors working in Ceramics, Small Metals and/or Welding, including monitoring hours worked, completion of assigned tasks and signing timesheets.
  • Posts supply lists for classes as requested by faculty.
  • Assist department with the collection and delivery of student work for student exhibitions. Assists with the set-up and breakdown of departmental shows on campus or off. Work with Gallery to facilitate pick-up and/or storage of student work after exhibitions including delivering work back to faculty as needed.
  • Maintains departmental sculpture stands and vitrines.
  • Daily duties may be divided among the different studios and labs as needed based on the schedule of classes in the Fine Art 3D area.
  • Semester or weekly work schedule can vary based on class schedule with some evening coverage required.
  • Reports to the Fine Art 3D Chair and takes daily/weekly direction from the Woodshop Lab Technician as needed.
  • Manage the classroom and studio maintenance for the Graduate Department in the summer months, with an expanded focus on the woodshop

Department: Business Office
Exemption Status: Exempt
 

Summary of primary duties and responsibilities:
The Accounts Receivable Coordinator handles all billing and collection activities for the College.  This position works closely with the Director of Financial Aid in processing refund checks and posting financial aid to student accounts.  This position also works closely with the Staff Accountant to ensure all student accounts receivable transactions are properly posted to the general ledger.  Responsibilities also include working with outside collection agencies, process of annual 1098T tax forms, and coordinating the annual clearance process for all new and returning students.  This position will answer phones/greet visitors and take messages for other Business Office employees as necessary, assist other Business Office employees during non-peak periods and handle all other duties, projects or assignments as assigned. 

Qualifications/Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have at least an Associates Degree in Accounting or a related field, prior accounts receivable experience ideally in higher education.  Familiar with Sungard SCT PowerCampus software is a plus, and strong customer service skills are a must.

PROSPECT RESEARCHER
Department: Business Office

Plans, implements, and monitors Moore’s prospect research program and supports overall fundraising efforts as the Development Office prepares for multi-year capital campaign.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:  
 
Prospect Research:  
  • Manage, implement, and coordinate all aspects of prospect research, including the optimization of processes and best practices.
  • Manage donor pipeline and prepare recommendations for prospect strategies for current and new donor prospects.
  • Analyze giving methods and develop strategies to build strong relationships between donors and the institution.
  • Work closely with Director of Development to steward donors and increase giving.
  • Lead the efforts to build development processes facilitating the execution of a successful three-year campaign.
  • Prepare well-polished reports in a timely manner.
 
Other Duties:
  • Track prospect strategies and giving to ensure all prospects and donors are managed through the pipeline.
  • Support campaign events.
