(Philadelphia, PA) Lights! Camera! Fashion!

Camera crews for a fashion-based reality show will begin filming the pilot season at Moore College of Art & Design starting Friday, June 7 and lasting for two weeks.

“KING ON 34th” is a competition-based reality show centered around fashion and business icon J. Alexander Martin of FUBU and set in New York City on 34th Street. The show is built around 12 designers who will work in groups, potentially featuring Moore fashion design graduates, to compete in weekly challenges that lead to dramatic eliminations.

The winning contestant will be supported in launching their brand and creating their first collection through professional mentoring from J. Alexander Martin, a full page spread in a fashion magazine and a cash prize.

From June 7 through June 21, crews will shoot six episodes in various spaces at Moore, including the fashion design studios and the dormitories where contestants will live.

“KING ON 34th”, hosted by celebrity host and TV personality Brian Balthazar, highlights a diverse panel of judges in the fashion and entertainment industries, including Fashion Institute of Technology Menswear Design Department Chairman Mark-Evan Blackman; NYC-based clothing designer Autumn Hawk; celebrity publicists & TV personalities The Von Boozier Twins; and celebrity wardrobe stylist to the stars, Alisa Maria.

Moore alumna Melissa D’Agostino ’02, who most recently served as the inaugural Designer-in-Residence for the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator at Macy’s Center City, is the executive consultant for the show.

D’Agostino, owner of D’Agostino Fashion Textile Design, was approached to consult on the show by Philadelphia native Antonne Jones, the executive producer and creator.
